This page summarises our guest compendium and key policies. If you have any questions, please ring reception.
Office opening hours
- Monday – Saturday: 9:00 am – 9:00 pm
- Sunday: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
After hours: please ring (03) 217 6119.
Check-out & keys
- Check-out: On the day of departure, all guests must vacate their units by 10:00 am (unless prior arrangements have been made).
- Furniture: If you need to rearrange the furniture, please put it back the way you found it before leaving.
- Keys: Please leave your key at the reception mailbox or on the table in your unit when you depart, with the door closed.
Booking & payments
- Cash policy: It is our policy that your account is kept in credit during your stay with us.
- Reservations: Colonial Motel is able to arrange forward reservations on your behalf.
- Payment methods: We accept MasterCard, Visa, and American Express.
- Personal cheques: Personal cheques cannot be accepted.
- Cancellation: 48 hours notice is required for cancellations.
- Late cancellation: Cancellations made within 48 hours of the check-in time forfeit the full amount of the first cancelled night.
- During-stay cancellation: Cancellations made during the stay forfeit the full amount of the following night.
Room
- Blankets & pillows: Extra blankets can be found in the wardrobe in the bedrooms. Electric blankets are on all the beds.
- Cooking food: We ask for your consideration in not preparing odorous food in guest rooms.
- Electricity: Electric current is 240 V, AC 50 Hz.
- Heating: Please turn the heating off when you check out.
- Internet: Free unlimited ultra fast Wi‑Fi internet access is available in all areas. The password can be found in every unit.
- Ironing: Iron and ironing board are in your guest room wardrobe.
- Loss & damage: Guests will be responsible for any damage to room furnishings and fixtures. We are unable to accept responsibility for damage or theft to any personal belongings including motor vehicles and contents.
- Pets: Pets are not permitted.
- Room services: Available 6 days a week between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm.

- Television: Freeview + Netflix. Check the guide below.
- Visitors: Please ensure your visitors leave by 9:00 pm. Visitors are not permitted to use parking space of motel units.
- Wake up calls: Can be arranged through your bedside alarm/clock/radio (set to your desired wake up time).
Consumables
- Beverages: 300ml fresh milk – $2.00
Amenities & services
- Chemist: Located around the corner on Yarrow Street and is open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Fax & email: Services are available at reception between 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on weekdays.
- Laundry: Guest laundry situated between units 5 and 6. Hours: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm. Washing powder available at the office for $2.00 per sachet.
- Lost & found: Any lost property will be held for three months. We recommend checking your room thoroughly prior to departing.
- Luggage: Storage is available at reception. Should you require assistance dial 1000 for reception.
- Messages: Contact reception for left messages.
- Parking: Guests park your car in front of your unit; visitors must park on the street.
- Post office: Invercargill's PostShop is located at 66 Tay Street. Open Monday to Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Safe deposit: Currently not available.
- Taxi: Available 24 hrs by ringing (03) 217 7777. EziCab 027 217 6767.
- Tourist information: Displayed in the reception area.
Emergency
- First aid kit: Available at reception.
- Fire: A detailed fire escape map is located on the rear of your guest room door. If evacuation is necessary please proceed quickly and calmly to the nearest exit and assemble on the footpath in front of reception. All guests will be accounted for at this point.

- Procedures: Please report all emergencies to reception. Reception staff will notify the applicable emergency departments as necessary. You can also dial 111 from your room. The operator will request which service (Fire, Ambulance, or Police). Please advise reception of the emergency.
TV guide
- Freeview channels: Select Digital TV to watch all Freeview channels.
- Sky Sports channels: Channels 800–802 for Sky Sports 1, 2, 3.
- Netflix: Press the NETFLIX button on your TV remote to enjoy thousands of TV shows and movies.
